Woohoo! I finally got around to designing and coding a simple portfolio site for myself! It's still got a couple kinks, but it's out there! Check it out here! :)

We All Go Through This
I found this on Pintrest, and, with school getting tough, it couldn't have had better timing. I think this is inspiring not only to designers, but anyone with a passion. You've just gotta fight your way through.

Think Green
I just finished these posters for a class project where we had to represent a group's view on an issue. I decided to go with the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws, and to make my posters appeal to the people who would normal turn their heads the second they see a poster for legalization. To appeal to this audience, I tried to take a more logical - rather than whimsical and "trippy" - approach.

Curiosity Killed the Snowman
A short 3D animation I made in Maya. Disclaimer: It doesn't make any sense. Also, thanks Blogger for completely killing the quality. -___-

The Black Sheep
I made this flyer for The Black Sheep Launch Party. Even though it never got used, I thought I'd share it. :) Click "Read More" to see some of my other ideas that I never actually followed through with.

Music is What Life Sounds Like
According to Billy Joel, music is "an explosive expression of humanity." I wanted to illustrate that idea in this six-month calendar. My goal was to represent a wide range of musical styles in a fairly cohesive and consistent graphic style to un-categorize each style of music and portray music as a whole.

Pencil Tip Micro-Sculpting
Patience is a virtue...that I do not possess. I guess Dalton Ghetti got my serving. It's the only explanation I can think of for my inability to catch a fish, and Dalton's unbelievable micro-sculpting in the tips of pencil lead. Plenty of artists use pencils to make art, but I've never seen anyone do it like this. Hit the jump to see more examples of his work.

Only in a Jeep
I'm one of those people that loves my car so much I believe it has feelings, a face, a voice... a smile, even! This is a stop motion film of a day in the life of me and my baby.

The Life of a Pelican
I don't know if I would like my life to be only sitting on posts all day, searching the ocean for fish. But then again, maybe I would, if I didn't know anything else. Is that a hard life or an easy life?

Hanging by a Moment
I just discovered this photographer, Martin Stranka, and am in love. The photos are of people suspended in the air, or frozen in some decisive moment. They are almost surreal. I'm obsessed. I don't know how else to describe it.

It's About the Music
I designed this t-shirt for Charlottesville's 106.1 The Corner radio station. One of their slogans is "It's about the music." I got in the top five in the contest, but didn't get enough votes to win the iPad. Oh shwell. (The pink dotted line isn't part of my design, it was just the area I had to work in.)

Lips so Luscious
...the way I spice it up with the Mac, Mac brushes. I took this on black and white film in my 35mm camera, rolled the film in the black bag, developed the film, and printed this image in a darkroom. I used a transparency with text on it to print the lyrics (Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss") on the image. I colored in the lips with colored pencil afterward. Shout-out to Ashley Hutchins for being a hot model!

Meet Brit
I took these photos for my beautiful grand-big's graduation announcements! Hit "Read More" to see more photos from the shoot, including a cheesy dandelion-wish shot and some friendly duckies.

California, Here We Come
I took this picture riding shotgun into one of the most perfect sunsets I've seen so far. I love Virginia, but my heart lingers in San Diego.

I Never Ever Trip, Just...
Peace, Happyness, and Love. (Drake lyrics, for my peeps who didn't recognize the play on the title.) I made this simple website for a friend's new clothing line! He needed a page from which shoppers could navigate to various PH&L resources. Check out the links, get yourself a fresh tee! I got one myself and, no lie, it's the most comfortable t-shirt I own. I do not own the rights to the photograph used.

Love Story
This is a stop motion film I made with my friend Ashley, the girl in the video. I shot the photos with my Nikon and put them together in iMovie. The music is a little something I wrote and recorded on my precious six-string. (Apologies for the pixelation. Wah.)

Sophisticated Swag
All I remember about drawing this was crawling around it on the floor of my apartment for hours on end in order to get to each part of the at-least-four-foot-tall paper. Oh, and having charcoal all over my body, but that just made me feel artsy.

Birds on Wire
Ansel Adams took this gem in 1943 outside the Manzanar Relocation Center as part of his Manzanar collection. This photo wins the award for "Longest Photo on my Desktop Background." I'm sure if I could tell Adams that, he'd be flattered and teach me his ways, right? Maybe I could teach him a thing or two about creative titles. (This one is "Birds on wire, evening, Manzanar Relocation Center." Clever.)
Noisy and Colorful Life
I created this self-portrait in Photoshop with the inspiration, "If you're quiet, you're not living. You've got to be noisy and colorful and lively." -Mel Brooks
What if...?
Do ants even know that we exist? Maybe not. What if, to something greater than us, we look like nothing more than ants hustling and bustling in our silly anthill of Earth. How would we even know? I created this using Illustrator.

Meet Thomas
Who needs a fancy studio when you've got a bearded dragon's heat-lamp to direct with one hand, a camera in the other, and a backdrop of a white bathroom door? Add a couple crazy hats and accessories and you're golden.

Gimme Vintage
There is a special place in my heart for vintage goodies - from antique cars to my mom's closet to these posters, from The Poster List.
Cooler Art. TSM.
Untraditional? Maybe. Art? In my book! Click "Read More" to see each side of this cooler I painted for my boyfriend's fraternity's Mountain Weekend in Gatlinburg.
Chasing Waterfalls
People often make the mistake of confusing their greatest photograph with the one that was hardest to get. Sometimes the best photos are of the things everyone sees, but that you see with a different eye. This waterfall is only about 20 minutes from my apartment, and everyone I know has been there, and taken their own photos - but this is my perception of this local beauty.
Speaking of the 4th...
Besides greasy burgers, American flag bikini's, a long day of boating, and a couple mullet-heads riding Harley's, nothing says "America" quite like a bird bursting dramatically out of its cage. Take that, King George.

Bright Lights, Big City
There are countless ways to portray New York City, but in this shot, I wanted to express the glamorous, prosperous side, even through something as mundane as a taxi.

The 13th Witness
INSTAGRAM. I want to buy an iPhone just so that I can play, too. These two are taken by The 13th Witness, who I find even more fascinating because of his complete anonymity. I don't think I could keep that gig up for long.

Introduction
This is me. I enjoy art, my Jeep, my turtles, and Cherry Coke. I'm working with a Canon Rebel T2i, Adobe Creative Suite on my Macbook Pro, and a predominantly right-side brain with left-side tendencies. I want this blog to be a showcase of my own work, as well as a collection of work that inspires me. Enjoy! :)
